Racial Bias

The Grammy Awards have been criticized in recent years for claims of racial discrimination against nonwhite artists and performers. Since the inception of the award program in 1957, only 10 Black people have won the Album of the Year Award

Early Years

Wes Montgomery learned to play guitar on Indiana Avenue in Indianapolis, and often played in jazz clubs in the city such as the Sunset Lounge. He and his 5 brothers formed a band called the Montgomery Brothers
